Dr Dawson's expertise is on the human and policy dimensions of environmental change with a strong focus on the implications of climate change and economic development for the Arctic shipping and tourism sectors. She leads several projects examining Arctic shipping trends, marine shipping governance and policy, climate change impacts and adaptation, and local marine use and transportation needs. She works closely with coastal communities in Arctic Canada, shipping industry stakeholders, and government departments involved in the Arctic marine transportation sector. Dr. Jason Nickerson, RRT, PhD is the Humanitarian Representative to Canada for Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), based in Ottawa. Jason is appointed as a Clinical Scientist at the Bruyère Research Institute in Ottawa and as an Adjunct Professor of Common Law at the University of Ottawa’s Centre for Health Law, Policy and Ethics. He leads MSF’s humanitarian diplomacy in Canada and provides advice on humanitarian operations, medical advocacy and policy, and access to medicines to MSF’s operations in more than 70 countries affected by crises. Jason has over 10 years’ clinical experience as a respiratory therapist working in adult critical care and anesthesia and has worked extensively in global public health response in Canada and internationally during armed conflicts, disease epidemics, and sudden onset disasters. Jason is a graduate of Dalhousie University’s Bachelor of Health Sciences in Respiratory Therapy program, specializing in anesthesia. Following this, he completed a master’s degree at the University of British Columbia studying the education of health professionals who provide community-based HIV care, and a PhD in population health at the University of Ottawa where he focused on the methodologies for conducting assessments of severely disrupted health systems during acute and protracted emergencies. His research has been published in high-impact medical journals including The Lancet, the Canadian Medical Association Journal, PLOS Medicine, and Health Policy and Planning, among others. He has appeared as a witness before the Canadian Parliament’s Standing Committees on Health, Finance, and International Trade and published opinion pieces in The Star, iPolitics, and The Conversation, and has been widely quoted in international news outlets on a variety of global health and health policy issues including COVID-19, access to pain medicines for safe anesthesia and palliative care, access to affordable medicines, science policy, and humanitarian assistance in natural disasters, armed conflicts, refugee crises, and disease epidemics such as Ebola.

Mr. Tassé is a Chartered Professional Accountant - Chartered Accountant (CPA,CA) (Canada), a Forensic Certified Public Accountant (FCPA) (USA),anda Certified Internal Controls Auditor (CICA) (USA). He carries the designation Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF) (USA)and holds both a Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) and an Honours Bachelor of Commerce from the Telfer School on Management at the University of Ottawa.

He has pursued ongoing professional development as an Associate or Affiliate member with the Harvard Institute for Learning in Retirement, the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, the Association of Certified Forensic Investigators of Canada, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the American Anti-Corruption Institute (holder of the CACM designation).

Mr. Tassé is a member or panel member of various groups including the Accountant-Lawyer Alliance, the Anti-Money Laundering Association, the Canadian Centre of Excellence for Anti-Corruption, the Rutgers Institute on Anti-Corruption Studies, the Canadian Centre for Ethics and Corporate Policy, the Institute for Mergers, Acquisitions and Alliances, and the Business Development Bank of Canada ViewPoints. He is also a speaker for the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario, and volunteers with the United Nations Online Volunteering Service.

Mr. Tassé is a past and current member of various advisory boards, risk management committees, audit committees, governance committees, and boards of trustees with fiduciary responsibilities. As a philanthropist, he supports non-governmental organizations that fight corruption, such as Transparency International and the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists.

For over 20 years, Mr. Tassé has been teaching (100+ courses at the bachelor, MHA, MBA and     International MBA level)at one of Canada’s top business schools, the Telfer School of Management. He is also an instructor with the Canadian Centre of Excellence for Anti-Corruption, a recipient of a Teaching Excellence Award in the MBA program, and has taught at two other Canadian universities.
