Research information:

Diane's research interests are in the area of (1) coaching and coach education, (2) informal learning and changing everyday practices, and (3) qualitative research methods, especially participatory research. Diane's previous working experience includes coaching for the Canadian National Ski Team and the New Zealand Olympic Ski Team. She consults with athletes and coaches, facilitating the enhancement of their performance.

Research information:

Christine Dallaire studies sports and physical activity from a sociocultural perspective, with a particular focus on Canadian society, youth and communities as well Canada's francophonie. She is currently comparing the experiences of young adults (18-25 years old) that invest themselves in sports leadership roles as a form of community engagement through the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa, the YMCA-YWCA Capital Region and the Jeux de l’Acadie. Her earlier research focused on the role of sport in community building and in youth francophone and national belonging at the Jeux de l'Acadie, the Jeux franco-ontariens, the Jeux francophones de l'Alberta, the Jeux de la francophonie canadienne and the Jeux du Québec.

Dr. Giles' research examines Aboriginal people's (though especially women's) participation in physical activity, sport, and recreation in the NWT, Nunavut, and Northern Alberta. Research information:

I am actively involved in joint mechanics, muscle modeling, measurements of in vivo mechanical properties of human tissues, electromyography, biomechanics of sport injuries and sport biomechanics. My major research programs focus on the mechanics of the human knee joint of healthy and pathological subjects, as well as to the biomechanical assessment of the mobility of patients with a total hip and knee arthroplasty. The most recent research program funded is on the development of a musculoskeletal model of the hip joint for patients suffering of femoroacetabular impingement.
