Do you support the United Way?

Are you involved in the University of Ottawa United Way Campaign? Do you think that a gift to United Way is a necessary investment in your community? Would you be willing to share your experience with the whole University community?

If you have answered “yes”, you are the kind of person that the organizing committee for the 2005 University of Ottawa United Way Campaign is looking for. “We’re looking for people to act as headliners”, explains campaign Co-chair Daniel Morin. “We want to promote such testimonials as part of a marketing campaign for United Way on campus.”

If you are interested in taking part in such a project or if you know someone who might be interested, please contact Daniel Morin, by e-mail at dmorin@uOttawa.ca or by fax at 562-5117. You might be asked to come to a photo session and to submit to an interview.

This marketing campaign is one of the new initiatives of the 2005 campaign. It will be possible to make your pledge online this year. In addition, the first annual Hubert Reiter Award will be given to a teaching or support staff member, active or retired, whose volunteer work has contributed to the University of Ottawa’s community outreach efforts. “This is in line with another mission of United Way, which is to promote volunteer action,” Morin said.

The award was named in honour of Hubert Reiter, a former director of Protection Services, who has been active on behalf of United Way on campus for many years. The deadline to submit a candidate is September 30, 2005.
