United Way salutes uOttawa

The University of Ottawa received the Campaign Hall of Fame Award during the annual United Way/Centraide Ottawa Community Builder Awards banquet. The award recognizes the major support United Way has received from the University over the years.

In 2004, the uOttawa community raised $341,263 for United Way-funded volunteer agencies and programs in the national capital and the Outaouais region. The University of Ottawa United Way campaign is the fourth largest workplace campaign in the region — a position it has occupied for the past several years.

Leslie Weir and Daniel Morin, co-chairs of the 2005 United Way Campaign on campus, received the award on behalf of the University. This honour reflects on the work of the more than 150 campaign volunteers “who deserve the entire credit for this success,” Morin said.

The University’s 2005 United Way Campaign will run from October 5 to November 3. The organizing committee is looking for volunteers to help with events or to act as canvassers. If you are interested, please contact Josée Graveline, grave@uOttawa.ca, ext. 8083 (events) or Jeannine Charette, jcharet@uOttawa.ca, ext. 1134 (canvassing).
