University appoints new associate vice-president, research

The University of Ottawa is pleased to announce the appointment of Adele Reinhartz as associate vice-president, research effective July 1, 2005.

Reinhartz has more than 20 years experience in the world of academia most recently as Wilfrid Laurier University’s Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research, with previous appointments as tenured professor, adjunct professor and associate dean of the School of Graduate Studies at McMaster University.

In her new position, she will be responsible for the University's research centres and institutes, key contributors to the success of the University of Ottawa as one of Canada’s top seven research-intensive post-secondary institutions.

Another important component of the position is Research Grants and Ethics, which includes support from granting councils and research ethics boards. Animal Care and Veterinary Services, as well as Radiation and Biosafety are also part of her areas of responsibility.

Reinhartz is an outstanding researcher in religious studies. She has served as invited lecturer at numerous national and international meetings.
