Local research data centre to open

The University of Ottawa is partnering with Carleton University and the Université du Québec en Outaouais in a local research data centre (RDC). Located in the Morisset Library, the centre is scheduled to open in April 2005.

The RDC will provide secure access to detailed Statistics Canada data for researchers whose research projects are approved by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council. It is part of a national university initiative to use Statistics Canada master files with a view to strengthen social research capacity and support social and economic policy analysis in Canada.

It will be the only intra-provincial RDC and will join a network of similar centres in 13 Canadian universities.

There will be two information sessions on the RDC at the Morisset Library, Room 211, on Tuesday, February 1st, 2005, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. (French), or from 2:30 to 4 p.m. (English). For additional information, contact Hélène Carrier, Director, Morisset Library, at hcarrier@uOttawa.ca.
