A Look at the University of Ottawa Press

What goes on inside a publishing house? Come and find out at the University of Ottawa Press (UOP) open house on Wednesday, November 10, 2004, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 542 King Edward, south of Laurier. Coffee, tea, and other yummy treats will be served.

Meet editor-in-chief, Ruth Bradley St-Cyr, and the staff of UOP. Acquaint yourselves with our 68 years of publishing history, and learn more about the publishing industry in Canada. Co-hosting the event is the Canadian Journal of Development Studies, celebrating 25 years of publishing on the developing world.

The publishing house has undergone several metamorphoses since its inception in 1936.  Although it has been publishing about 10 books a year for the last few years, the Press has more than doubled that number this year with over 20 publications in 2004.

The University of Ottawa Press is the only officially bilingual university press in Canada and also holds the title of Canada's oldest French language university press.

UOP publishes in many areas, including Canadian Studies, history, literature, Amérique française, governance, translation, education, criminology, religion, and cultural transfers.  The periodical Francophonies d'Amérique is also among its publications.
