School of Management honours alumni

On the occasion of its 35th anniversary, the School of Management presented awards to four of its remarkable alumni.

The dean of the School of Management, Micheál J. Kelly, created a special award in 2004 to mark the historic milestone. The Dean’s Philos Award will be awarded annually for lifetime philanthropic achievement. This year's prize is awarded to Mr. Eugène Tassé, one of the first recipients of the Trudeau Medal.

The school's alumni association awarded the 2004 Trudeau Medal to Jim Orban, publisher and general manager of the Ottawa Citizen and Dominique De Celles, vice-president and general manager of L'Oréal Paris. The Trudeau Medal is the highest alumni award given by the School of Management.

An MBA graduate from the University of Ottawa, Jim Orban has been involved in many community and newspaper organizations throughout his career. He continues to be very active in the community and currently sits on the University's Board of Governors.

Dominique De Celles holds a bachelor's degree in marketing communications from the University and a business diploma from the HEC School of Management, in Paris, France.

The 2004 Young Achiever's Award, which recognizes the success of an alumnus under the age of 40, went to Russell Armstrong, vice-president, Strategy and Alliances at the Ottawa Hospital. Armstrong has a Master's in Health Administration from the University of Ottawa.
