Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty is one of the three new members inducted into the Common Law Honour Society in 2004, along with Jean-Marc Labrosse and Margaret A. Ross.

Established in 2003, the society is the Common Law Section's most prestigious alumni distinction. Its purpose is to honour alumni who have used their legal education as the foundation for great achievements in their careers.

As part of this year's induction ceremony, the faculty also recognized John Manley who was inducted into the society in 2003. Manley (LLB 1976, DU 1998) was in charge, at various times, of the federal departments of Industry, Foreign Affairs, and Finance, as well as acting as Deputy Prime Minister.

Inductee Jean-Marc Labrosse (LLB 1960) is a member of Common Law's first graduating class. A proponent of French-language legal services, he was appointed to the High Court of Justice in 1975 and to the Court of Appeal for Ontario in 1990.

Margaret A. Ross (LLB 1974) is an outstanding litigator and expert on medical-legal issues.

First elected to the Ontario legislature in 1990, Dalton McGuinty (LLB 1981) was chosen leader of the Ontario Liberal Party in 1996 and became premier in 2003.
