Two profs win Capital Educators’ Award

Two University of Ottawa professors were among the 16 top educators honoured at the third annual Capital Educators’ Awards and EduGala, held on May 27.

In winning a Capital Educators’ Award, Akef Obeidat (Cellular and Molecular Medicine) and Marielle Simon (Education) were recognized for acting as role models for their students and for instilling confidence and nurturing leadership among them.

Simon currently teaches English and French courses in the teacher training program, as well as in the master in education, master of arts, and doctoral programs.

Obeidat is a professor in the Anatomy Program. He has received two grants from the University’s Centre for University Teaching. The more recent grant will allow him to develop digital radiology resources to be integrated in the first two years of the medical curriculum.
