Professor Serge Denis from the School of Political Studies has won the 2004 Prix Trillium for his book Social-démocratie et mouvements ouvriers (Les Éditions du Boréal) – a thought-provoking reflection on the failure of social democracy in an era signalling the end of socialism and the ascendancy of neo-liberalism.
The French-language Prix Trillium de la poésie went to alumna, Angèle Bassolé-Ouadréogo for her book Avec tes mots (Éditions Malaïka), a tribute to François Ouédraogo depicting a people’s suffering and the vital need for freedom of expression. Bassolé-Ouadréogo, who holds a doctorate from the University of Ottawa, iscurrently an affiliated researcher with the Institute of Women’s Studies.
The Prix Trillium, established by the Ontario Government in 1994, recognizes francophone writers and their publishers.
