Four French exchange students at the School of Management won the Prix Espace Expansion during an international marketing competition held by videoconference between Paris and Ottawa in June 2003. The four are Nadège Corrion, Emmanuelle Yigit, Aurélie Lacroix and Amélie Balière.
“The goal of our presentation was to show what kind of visual positioning cosmetics manufacturer Aveda was using to differentiate itself from its competitors. We only had 10 minutes to convince the judges, so we really had to stick to the basics,”explained Emmanuelle Yigit, a recent School of Management graduate.
“Competitions are a very useful learning process,”said Nadège Corrion, also a graduate of the university. “Students have to do extensive research and they must creative, accurate and agressive.”During her studies, Corrion won other awards in the Jeux du Commerce and the Michel-Cloutier Marketing Competition.
The University of Ottawa team faced competitors from Poland and Lebanon.
The four University of Ottawa winners will share €4,600 (approximately $7,300 CAN).
