Gee-Gees show well in post-season play

In women's soccer, the Gee-Gees took home the first consolation title at the CIAU national championships, nipping Cape Breton 1-0. Hosted by B.C.'s Trinity Western University from Nov. 4 to 9, this was the Gee-Gees' 10th national-championship appearance, and their fourth in a row, since their inaugural season in 1994 under founder and current head coach, Steve Johnson.

The women's side, a force all season long once again, put up stats and results that make it the top varsity squad in the Gee-Gees' fold. Much of the team's success stems from the experience of 13 veterans who now boast at least two full seasons under their belts, including co-captains, Élise Desjardins and Katie Lugg, who've been with the squad for three and four years, respectively.

Men's football: Gee-Gees' 108th season comes to a close

The University of Ottawa's men's football squad ran out of steam in its Yates Cup match-up with the University of Western Ontario, going down to a 31-17 defeat to the host Mustangs in the Ontario Interuniversity Sport final.

Still, the Gee-Gees can take solace in having thumped Queen's University the week before and spoiling the Golden Gaels' perfect record to that point, quite a feat to mark Garnet and Grey's 108th gridiron season.
