Students teach Chinese to the Canadian Olympic Committee

The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures is providing students with a very special type of experiential learning opportunity. Under the supervision of Professor Sheri Zhang, three students with advanced Chinese-language skills have been volunteering weekly Chinese-language tutoring, since March 11, to the administrators of the Canadian Olympic Committee.

Participating students are registered with the University’s Experiential Learning Service. Experiential learning takes students out of the classroom to actively apply their university training to real-world situations, and in ways that benefit the community and non-profit organizations. Students are enjoying the opportunity to develop their teaching skills.
