Lori Warren, Assistant Director, Systems and Planning

What is your most important function at the University and why?

My most important role is to bring people together from across our university (students, faculty, services and administration), our city community and other stakeholders to build a team, so we can be more prepared to respond to and recover from an emergency (wherever it may occur).

What inspires you the most about your job?

Working with (and learning from) so many dynamic, talented and dedicated people from all areas of campus inspires me most.

Of what are you most proud?

I am most proud of people who always do their best with what they have while respecting themselves and others.

Who is the most influential person in your life? Why?

The most influential person in my life is the one who challenges me, who provides gateways to learn, or who believes in me.

What would your co-workers be most surprised to know about you?

My past work has taken me inside the largest underground powerhouse in the world, inadvertently through the middle of the switchyard and transmission lines of that same powerhouse while in a helicopter. It has also allowed me to sail with one of the captains from the real Perfect Storm, sail on a ship that was also in the Perfect Storm, experience a rogue wave and stay on deck, and a few other high sea adventures…

What is your greatest hope for the future?

Sustainability.
