Pam Hrick, president of the Student Federation of the University of Ottawa, is one of 10 semi-finalists in CBC Television’s Canada’s Next Great Prime Minister. She joins a number of previous uOttawa contestants.
Based on a nationwide competition originated by Frank Stronach, founder and chairman of Magna International, in his quest to search for Canada’s best and brightest future leaders, the program was launched to engage young Canadians in the political process and to encourage them to think about ways to improve the country.
The 10 semi-finalists recently competed in a weekend-long bootcamp, including negotiating challenges to determine who would be the final four contestants.
Hrick was joined by uOttawa alumna Meg Wilcox in the group of 10 semi-finalists. The final four will appear in the show to be broadcast on March 23. The winner will receive $50,000 from Magna plus a six-month internship.
