The Trudeau Foundation’s track record of engaging highly accomplished Canadians from diverse backgrounds continued on January 29 with the announcement of nine distinguished Trudeau Mentors, including Robert Fowler, senior fellow at the University of Ottawa’s Graduate School of Public and International Affairs, and alumna Dyane Adam, former Commissioner of Official Languages.
Fowler is Canada’s longest-serving ambassador to the UN and was foreign policy advisor to prime ministers Trudeau, Turner and Mulroney. Adam graduated with an MA and PhD in clinical psychology from the University of Ottawa, and has worked in the Quebec and Ontario health systems. She was awarded an honorary doctorate from the University in 2001.
Fowler and Adam join two other members of the University community as mentors: Chancellor Huguette Labelle and Professor Monique Bégin. The University now has a total of 12 mentors, fellows and scholars.
Each Trudeau Mentor is linked with an outstanding university student, a recipient of a Trudeau Scholarship. The new 2008 Mentor-Scholar relationships kicked off in early February, when the pairs all met for the first time in Toronto, along with current and previous mentors and scholars.
