Professionalism and dedication are synonymous with the work of technical coordinator Pierre Bouchard and senior technician Denis Latreille of Community Life Service. Their efforts to provide the best in technical support – including sound, lighting and staging of the many Student Federation of the University of Ottawa (SFUO) events – have not gone unnoticed.
The outstanding commitment of Bouchard and Latreille was recognized at the SFUO Volunteer Gala in March, with the announcement of the Bouchard/Latreille Award for Support and Cooperation. Julie Séguin, a student in graphic arts, received this $1,000 scholarship, which recognizes an outstanding SFUO volunteer.
“Pierre and Denis have been invaluable to SFUO over the years. They are always prepared to go the extra mile – something that has been recognized not only by the current SFUO executive, but also by our predecessors,” said SFUO President André Brazeau. “Those who work hard behind the scenes rarely get recognized for the amazing work they do. We were very proud to recognize our good friends Pierre and Denis by renaming the award in their honour,” added Mike Anderson, SFUO Vice-president, Social Affairs.
Often working late hours and on weekends in a field where plaudits do not come easily, both technicians were immensely moved by the honour.
“Receiving this sign of appreciation from students is a priceless gift,” said Pierre Bouchard, a 21-year veteran staff member of the University. Denis Latreille, who has worked at the University since 2001, added, “It’s a great pleasure to be able to serve such enthusiastic people
