Survey on teacher training and support needs of part-time faculty

For the first time in its history, the University of Ottawa will launch a survey on teacher training and support needs of part-time faculty. Part of Vision 2010 and spearheaded by the Teaching and Learning Support Service, the survey will be conducted by the Centre for University Teaching from October 16 to 27, 2006. The survey questionnaire will be available online as of October 16.

The survey objectives are to:
•    identify teacher training and support needs of part-time faculty, and
•    develop a teacher training/support program and activities to meet the identified needs, for implementation in autumn 2007.

Data will be compiled according to five key areas: motivation and expectations, opinions on teaching effectiveness, teaching methods and activities, use of technology in education, and importance of teaching in the career of part-time educators.

Part-time faculty members are invited to take advantage of this unique opportunity to express their needs with regard to teacher training and support.
