Client Service Week, October 2-6

The start of the academic year reinforces the importance of client service. From those on the front line through to staff members, who are answering the questions of many new students on campus, staff and faculty alike have a role to play. The University is recognizing the importance of client service and all those who work in this area with the launch of a campus-wide client service week, October 2 to 6, 2006. This is part of International Customer Service Week.

In recognition of this week, two new awards have been created. These are in addition to the existing Support Staff Awards of Excellence.

The awards are:

President’s award for excellence in customer service (individual award)

This $2,000 cash prize will recognize an employee, who has excelled in customer service. It will underscore creativity and initiative used by an employee in responding to client needs. It will further recognize an individual’s efforts to raise the profile of the University.

President’s award for excellence in customer service (team award)

This prize will recognize a team that has demonstrated innovation and excellence in the delivery of a service or product for the University community. It will also recognize a team’s effort to raise the University’s profile with internal and external audiences. The winning team will be awarded a commemorative plaque by President Patry. The team’s photo and team members’ names will appear on the wall of honour.

Details on deadlines and nomination procedures will appear in a future edition of the Gazette. Guidelines for nominations will be distributed to all staff at the end of October.
