Fast and efficient communication with prospective or current students and the alumni community has always been a key aim of the University of Ottawa administration. A new communications system is about to improve those exchanges.
The University has purchased Talisma’s Multi-channel Constituent Relationship Management (CRM) solutions for higher education. Talisma will help the University build more meaningful constituent relationships across all departments, beginning with both undergraduate and graduate recruitment sectors.
During the initial phase, the CRM tool will track communications with prospective students from the first point of contact through to their commitment to attend the University. It will help those involved in undergraduate recruitment to manage all communications to and from prospective students, while strategically capturing all interactions. Staff will be trained in the use of the new product.
The initial deployment will also target graduate studies. It will provide the University with a communication tool to ensure a more effective way of following up with students relating to their research interests and graduate studies at the University.
Project Fusion aims to better integrate people, systems and processes at the University. Following the Project Fusion Steering Committee’s approval, the scope of the first CRM phase will be limited to recruitment activities of these groups:
• Liaison
• Strategic Enrollment Management Communications Office
• InfoService (admissions officers)
• Faculties of Engineering, Health Sciences and Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies
The CRM project kick-off took place on September 6, when a core deployment team comprising of Talisma and University of Ottawa staff planned the implementation phase. The first live deployment is expected later in the year.
