Dean of engineering appointed

A respected engineer and academic, Claude Laguë, PEng, is the new dean of engineering at the University of Ottawa, as of August 21, 2006.

Laguë joins the University from the University of Saskatchewan, where he served as dean of the College of Engineering since 2002. Before his appointment to the University of Saskatchewan, Laguë spent ten years at the Université Laval, as well as three years as a project engineer for an engineering consulting firm.

“I’m excited to see Claude Laguë join us, and I know that we’ll benefit greatly from his vision and experience,” said President Gilles Patry, himself a former dean of the faculty. “His experience and strategic skills will ensure our Faculty of Engineering becomes a national and international leader.”

During his time as dean at U of S, Laguë led the development and implementation of a strategic plan for the college and spearheaded a number of new programs and initiatives.
