Dia Sanou
Dia Sanou is a public health nutritionist and assistant professor at the Interdisciplinary School of Health Sciences. He received a PhD in Nutrition from Université Laval and completed his postdoctoral studies in aboriginal health related to nutrition at the University of Alberta. A graduate of the Université de Ouagadougou (Honours BSc and MSc), professor Sanou also holds a certificate in information technology and nutrition from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences. Prior to joining the University of Ottawa in 2010, Dr. Sanou taught at Mount Saint Vincent University (Nova Scotia). He also worked for four years in Burkina Faso as a nutritionist and food scientist for the National Nutrition Center in collaboration with UNICEF and with the National Public Health Laboratory. Dr. Sanou is an adjunct professor at Université Laval and active member of a number of professional nutrition-related organizations. His research concerns nutritional issues among children and youth from disadvantaged communities worldwide. He is particularly interested in the biological and ecological determinants of malnutrition, the design and testing of culturally-adapted, population-based nutrition interventions and the evaluation and/or reshaping of nutrition programs within the framework of international development. |
