University students are the leaders of tomorrow. More than any other group, they are determined to make a difference. According to Volunteer Canada, 53% of all volunteers in 2000 held a post-secondary degree.

Numerous studies show that those who volunteer to help others feel better about themselves.

Experiential education compels students to interact with others, often in unfamiliar and challenging environments. In the process it instills greater self-confidence, leadership and team-building skills.

What is Community Service Learning?

Community Service Learning is a form of experiential learning that enriches and enhances classroom teachings. This innovative pedagogical model allows students to contribute to their community by participating in projects that are related to their program of study.

Students usually complete 30 hours of volunteer work over the course of a semester. After determining the structure of their Community Service Learning projects with their professor, students then relate their experiences in the community to course content by using various methods.

What is The Co-Curricular Record?

The Co-Curricular Record (CCR) is a university document that records approved and verified volunteer activities undertaken by students. Like Community Service Learning, it recognizes students' services to the community, and helps develop leadership, compassion, ethics and self-confidence.
