Active in both private and public sector projects, Dr. Bonin’s research interests are in the areas of organizational administration, evaluation, and public finance. He has been recognized for his contributions to several university, professional and community groups and committees, notably with an honorary life membership by the Canadian Society for the Study of Higher Education. He is a member of the Heritage College Board of Governors and of the Dominican University College Board of Directors.

Dr. Bonin completed an Honours degree in arts and a Bachelor of Education at the University of Manitoba, and began his career as a teacher-librarian. Following a graduate degree in history from the University of Alberta and a Master of Science in library science from Drexel University in Philadelphia, he worked at the Winnipeg Public Library. Appointments as Assistant Director (Administrative Services) with the University of Manitoba Libraries and Associate Librarian at the University of Toronto preceded his terms as Director of the Laurentian University Library and of the libraries at Concordia University.

Upon obtaining a doctorate in higher education administration from the University of Toronto, Dr. Bonin also taught in the Faculty of Commerce and Administration at Concordia, and was teaching at the Université Laval when he was recruited to join the Knowledge Management Practice of KPMG Consulting. That relationship continued, with an appointment as a Principal Associate by the Ottawa partners who founded the Kelly Sears Consulting Group, even as he fulfilled a five-year mandate as President of the University of Sudbury and subsequently assumed the responsibilities of Research Director for the Canadian Association of University Business Officers.

He currently serves as the founding Director of the new School of Information Studies at the University of Ottawa.
