Students – Volunteering Outside of a Course

If you are volunteering outside of a course, you can have your volunteer experience added to your Co-Curricular Record (CCR). The CCR is an official university document that records approved and verified volunteer activities undertaken by students.

You can accumulate hours with different volunteer placements throughout your university career. Your CCR may cite several organizations with which you served for at least 20 hours, or just one organization with which you accumulated several hundred hours of volunteer service.

Eligible volunteer placements include:

  • Those located on campus and contributing to university life. CCR placements on campus are mainly with services, clubs and other organizations primarily linked to, and identified by, the Student Federation of the University of Ottawa. Campus-based activities must be designed to serve others, not the individual.
  • Those undertaken with not-for-profit community groups off campus.

 > > Please note that the CCR is not retroactive. This means that your volunteer hours will only be recorded once you are registered with the Experiential Learning Service and matched to your placement online. Past volunteer opportunities cannot be added to your CCR.
