Contest rules
Regulations for the contest accompanying the uOttawa website survey
- Eligibility: This contest is open to anyone worldwide who visits the website of the University of Ottawa (www.uOttawa.ca), except for University employees, member of the Board of Governors and agents of the University of Ottawa (or those domiciled with any of the above) or those who fail to meet the requirements of these Contest Rules. No purchase necessary.
- Participation: Participants must correctly complete both an online "pop-up" poll on the uOttawa website (www.uOttawa.ca) and a separate web form with the following information: participant's full name, telephone number, email address and preferred language. Only one entry per contest participant is permitted for the duration of the contest. Submitting more than one entry or falsifying the poll or the information web form will invalidate the participant's contest eligibility. By entering the contest, participants agree that they have read and understood these Contest Rules.
- Contest duration: June 24, 2012 to July 20, 2012, 5:00 p.m. (EST). The University reserves the right to extend the contest period up to noon (EST) on July 31, 2012.
- Prize: One prize consisting of an iPad with Wi-Fi 16GB (3rd generation) valued at $600 Canadian. The prize must be accepted as awarded or forfeited, and cannot be redeemed for cash or credit.
- Selection of winner: The winner will be randomly selected among all eligible contest participants, at the offices of the University of Ottawa's Computing and Communications Services, 1 Nicholas Street, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, on July 31, 2012 at 2 p.m. (EST). The University will inform the selected contest participant by telephone and/or email, immediately following the draw. The selected contest participant must have met the requirements of these Contest Rules and must correctly answer a skill-testing question. If the selected contest participant cannot be reached within 14 days of being chosen as the winner, the prize will be awarded to the second-place participant, and so on until the prize has been awarded. The odds of winning a prize depend on the number of eligible contest entries received.
- Claiming the prize: The winner must claim the prize in person at the Communications Directorate, Tabaret Hall, 550 Cumberland, Room N218, Ottawa, ON, K1N 6N5, Canada no later than noon (EST) on September 10, 2012. If the winner is unable to claim the prize in person, he or she must so notify the University in writing and the University will send the prize by priority post to the address of the winner's choice. The University assumes no responsibility arising from the delivery of the prize.
- Publicity: The winner's name will be publicly available on the University of Ottawa website (www.uOttawa.ca). By entering in the contest, participants agree to the publication of their name should they be selected as a winner. The winner must sign a form acknowledging receipt of the prize and releasing the University of Ottawa from any and all liability arising from participation in the contest or from the acceptance of any prize.
- Privacy: Information entered on the contest entry form, such as name, email address phone number and preferred language is collected under the authority of the University of Ottawa Act, 1965, S.O. 1965, chapter 137 and will be used solely by the University for the purposes of selecting the contest winners and to send participants information about the University's programs and services. This information will not be shared with the Alumni Association or with other third parties. In addition, IP addresses will not be collected through the survey.
