MEDIA ADVISORY: Getting youth interested in politics — Mulcair, Trudeau, May and Chong to take part in panel organized by Kevin Page

OTTAWA, March 20, 2014  —  The University of Ottawa invites members of the media to attend an event designed to encourage youth democratic engagement organized by Kevin Page, holder of the Jean-Luc Pepin Research Chair.

Over 1,000 students who are anything but apathetic towards politics will gather to hear political figures including New Democratic Party Leader Thomas Mulcair, Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau, Green Party Leader Elizabeth May and Conservative MP Michael Chong talk about the importance of youth participation in the democratic process.

This event is part of iVote-jeVote, a new initiative by the Jean-Luc Pepin Research Chair to counter the drop in voter turnout in Canada, especially among 18 to 24 year olds.

WHAT: Panel on democratic engagement of youth
WHEN: Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at 4 p.m.
WHERE: Social Sciences Building, ground floor, 120 University (map)

Follow the event on Twitter (@ivotejevote) and join the conversation: #jevote and #ivote. Parking is available in Lot K (with some parking in Lot X).
