University of Ottawa announces delay in sports dome production and installation

OTTAWA, October 31, 2013  —  The University of Ottawa announced today that the production and installation of the new dome at Gee-Gees Field has been delayed until mid-December.

The University was recently informed that the manufacturer retained to produce the dome on the Lees Campus field would be unable to complete it in time. Therefore, installation cannot be completed in early November as planned.  As a result, winter programming in the dome, scheduled to start on November 15, cannot proceed.

The University’s Sport Services has received assurances from the manufacturer that the dome will be completed by mid-December. Sports Services hopes to begin full operations in the dome early 2014.

This delay, which is out of the University of Ottawa’s control, is very disappointing. The University has contacted all clients to inform them of the delay, and Sport Services is currently exploring various options to ensure their needs can be met.
