INFORMATION RELATIVE AU PARTENAIRE COMMUNAUTAIRE :
Organisation :
Therapeutic & Educational Living Centres Inc. (TELCI)
Description :
Therapeutic & Educational Living Centres Inc. (TELCI) is the only agency of its kind in Eastern Ontario - a non-profit, charitable organization providing residential, educational and support services to adults with a visual impairment and an intellectual disability. TELCI was created as a result of the deinstitutionalization movement that began in the late 70s in Ontario. TELCI was incorporated in 1978 and opened its first residence (two apartments providing services to four individuals) in 1981. TELCI currently supports 21 individuals within 3 group home settings, 2 semi-independent living programs and outreach to a person who currently resides in a long term care facility. Our mission is to provide appropriate training, education and support as may be required to enhance the self reliance and social opportunities for the people we support. We also strive to promote, support those we serve. TELCI's program is driven by the needs and interests of the people we support, with an emphasis on independent living and community integration. We are firmly committed to our role as partners with the people we support, their families and friends in advocating for the rights of people with disabilities to participate fully in activities and opportunities in the community. TELCI is proud of its highly committed, qualified and experienced staff who provide the education, counseling and advocacy services required by our clients. A dedicated team of counselors, case workers, volunteers, advocates and DSW placement students provide support in a variety of settings and situations.
