INFORMATION RELATIVE AU PARTENAIRE COMMUNAUTAIRE :
Organisation :
YOUCAN - Youth Canada Association
Description :
Our mission is: *To equip youth to engage and inspire others to peacefully resolve conflicts and develop healthy relationships in their communities.* We are a national non-profit charitable organization dedicated to building a culture of peace among the youth of today. We are Canadas leading organization run for-youth-by-youth. We began in Ottawa and now have local teams in Ottawa, Toronto and Edmonton. Our vision is to foster "a nation where all youth work in partnership with their communities to promote peaceful resolution of conflicts." The ultimate goal of YOUCAN's Conflict resolution training program is to create safer communities by addressing the root causes of crime, violence and unhealthy relationships. Violence prevention and conflict resolution education is important because it is proactive and its effects are long term. YOUCAN's training modules aim to directly address the factors that are known to increase the likelihood of a young person becoming involved with the law. YOUCAN has trained over 20,000 youth in conflict resolution since its inception in 1997.
