INFORMATION RELATIVE AU PARTENAIRE COMMUNAUTAIRE :
Organisation :
General Union of Palestinian Students (GUPS)
Description :
The General Union of Palestinian Students (GUPS) works to create awareness on social, economic, and cultural issues in Palestine. Since the Occupation is embedded within the Palestinian culture, it is not necessary to explicitly discuss the political situation. Our perspective can be summarized by two words "despite that". With the recent influx of media exposure against the illegal Israeli Occupation and the increase in accessibility of information, the world is well aware that the Palestinian people are living under extremely rigid military control with limited resources. Our goal is to show that despite the separation wall, despite the blockade on Gaza, despite the checkpoints, despite the continued abuse and infringements on human rights and so on, the people in Palestine continue to live, continue to learn, continue to produce art and music, and continue to harvest the land they still have. Our group wants to share the positive aspects of the Palestinian life and invite the world into the culture in order for them to understand the social, economic, and by default, the impacts of the political and military occupation.
