It’s a deposit the University of Ottawa is happy to receive — a $750,000 donation from Scotiabank to create the Scotiabank International Scholarships. The scholarships were announced by Wendy Hannam, Scotiabank’s executive vice-president of Domestic Branch Banking.
Applications will be accepted from students in all disciplines; however, applicants who either have a disability or are studying an international aspect of disability issues will receive preferential access to the scholarships.
Scotiabank’s contribution will be matched by the University and by the Ontario Trust for Student Support, creating a significant endowment to support these awards. The donation was made in the context of the Campaign for Canada’s university, which is well on its way to reaching its goal of $200 million with over $150 million raised.
