Law student is Rhodes Scholar

A recent National Law Program graduate, Jamie Furniss is one of Canada’s 2005 Rhodes Scholars.

The Rhodes Scholarships, the oldest international fellowships, were initiated after the death of Cecil Rhodes in 1902 and bring outstanding students from many countries around the world to the University of Oxford.

Jamie, who is currently clerking at the Supreme Court of Canada, is best known for his work in South Asia after last year’s tsunami. He decided to stay in the region to help after he and his debating partner Erik Eastaugh won the 2004 World Debating Championship in Kuala Lampur.
