The chair, created after renowned money manager Stephen Jarislowsky donated $1 million, will be the cornerstone of a national forum on public sector management, a subject near and dear to both Zussman and Jarislowsky.
“We look forward to seeing this chair help improve how governments work, and help them serve their customers — the citizens — more effectively and at lower costs. There’s no better place for a chair studying Canada’s governance than Canada’s university,” says Jarislowsky.
Zussman will continue to serve as a columnist with the Ottawa Citizen, as associate executive at Ekos Research Associates, and as a part-time commissioner of the Public Service Commission.
His previous work includes a seven-year stint as president of the Public Policy Forum and a position as assistant secretary to the Cabinet for Program Review and Machinery of Government in the Privy Council Office.
Stephen Jarislowsky is one of Canada’s most successful mutual fund managers. His company, Jarislowsky Fraser, is celebrating its 50th year in 2005, and his book The Investment Zoo, Taming the Bulls and the Bears (Dans la jungle du placement) has become a bestseller.
