The recently opened COOL Research Data Centre (RDC) in the Morisset Library allows researchers to have secure access to Statistics Canada master files that provide insight on important issues facing Canadians. In the past, Ottawa-area researchers could use this data only if they traveled to other cities or made special arrangements with Statistics Canada.
COOL, which stands for “Carleton, Ottawa, Outaouais, Local,” is the sole inter-provincial RDC in Canada and the only one of its kind run equally by two universities: the University of Ottawa and Carleton University. It is also supported by Université du Québec en Outaouais.
There are now 14 RDCs throughout Canada.
