Some 150 students of the School of Management are helping the African country of Niger.
Professor Guy Laflamme directed students in his marketing and consumer behaviour classes to undertake a project dubbed “Making Niger our business” with the goal of providing famine relief to that country.
“Not only will the project allow our students to acquire in-depth knowledge of marketing, but it will make them socially-conscious managers with an acute sense of ethics,” Laflamme says.
The students are to submit a full marketing plan to Laflamme by the end of October, which is when they will collectively decide on a strategy to implement. They will work on the project through November, and hope to make their way to Niger in mid-December to deliver the fruits of their efforts.
