Engineering student is top in Canada

Vijay NarasimhanComputer engineering student, Vijay Narasimhan is this year’s C.D. Howe Award recipient as the top male engineering student in Canada. This is the second time in three years that Canada’s most prestigious engineering award has gone to a University of Ottawa student. The winner in 2001 was Andy Pan.

The award is named after C.D. Howe, a prominent civil engineer who was Canada’s first Transport minister and one of Prime Minister’s Mackenzie King most trusted advisors. The scholarship is worth $6,000 per year. Winners are chosen based on academic excellence and leadership qualities as evidenced by volunteer and extracurricular activities.

Vijay is very active in the community, while maintaining an impressive A+ average. He received a Rector's scholarship during his first year at the University.
