The 2005 OPAS Award for Excellence in Teaching with Technology for a university program or course has been awarded jointly to the School of Nursing and the Centre for e-Learning of the Teaching and Learning Support Service.
This is the third year in a row that the University of Ottawa has received a distinction from OPAS — the Office for Partnerships for Advanced Skills — a joint industry-university organization that promotes the use of technology in teaching.
The winning project is a program that introduces students to the handling of newborn babies. It was funded by the Consortium national de formation en santé, as part of the Faculty of Health Sciences’ e-learning strategy.
The development team included Vicky E. War, Sandra Dunn and Rémi Rousseau (project lead), along with Nicolas Hesler, Marc Bélanger, André Séguin, Georges Daoud and Julie Lefebvre from the Centre for e-learning, and Mireille Leblanc from the Multimedia Distribution Service.
Some 30 projects were submitted from across Canada for this year’s OPAS Awards competition. The 2005 winners will officially receive their award next month.
