Volunteers for Homecoming

Thank you for your interest in volunteering for the Homecoming weekend at the University of Ottawa.

There will be many areas requiring assistance from volunteers during the weekend of September 16-17, 2005.  If you wish to offer your services, please contact Anne-Marie Fontaine at the Alumni Office, (613) 562-5800 ext. 3082 or 1 800 465-1888, amfont@uOttawa.ca.

Volunteers will be asked to contribute in the following ways:

Chancellor’s High Tea

  • Serve tea and light refreshments
  • Accompany elderly alumni to and from parking lots
  • Provide directions or other information
  • Help direct traffic in parking lots
  • Provide assistance/information at strategic locations on campus

Opening Ceremonies and Jazz Evening

  • Provide assistance in parking lots and strategic locations on campus
  • Help with registrations
  • Greet participants
  • Provide assistance to technical staff or musicians
  • Distribute food

Campus Tours

  • Help direct pedestrian traffic
  • Accompany participants with mobility problems
  • Accompany groups of participants to various sites on campus

Family BBQ

  • Provide assistance to children using the Inflatable play structures
  • Help with BBQ meal tickets, distribution of food
  • Distribute tattoos, balloons to children and adults
  • Help with distribution of celebration cake
  • Accompany special guests attending the BBQ
  • Help direct pedestrian traffic
  • Help direct fans to boats and buses for departure to the football game 

Boat Flotilla/Buses to Football Game

  • Help direct pedestrian traffic to boat loading area on canal and bus loading area
    on campus
  • Inform boat riders that return to campus will be by bus only

Faculty Events

  • Provide assistance as required to ensure the smooth functioning of various faculty events 

Father Guindon Dinner

  • Help with registrations, assign tables
  • Greet guests
  • Provide guidance/assistance in finding assigned tables
  • Accompany guests with mobility problems
  • Provide assistance to organizers, as required
