The University of Ottawa was ranked top in the 2005 Commuter Challenge among organizations having between 1,000 and 5,000 employees.
University employees and students reduced automobile travel for the week by 24,496 kilometres, helping the City of Ottawa reach one million kilometres travelled by active and sustainable modes of transportation. This helped raise the City of Ottawa to the top of its category.
“We are very proud of our results,” says Denis Lachaine, director of Protection Services on campus. “Our goal was 300 participants this year and we had 325. Next year we will set our goal to 500 participants.”
