Graduate post-secondary education certificate launched

Beginning in September 2005, the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Education will offer a new French-only graduate certificate in post-secondary education. Students taking the program will have the opportunity to reflect on their profession and perfect their skills as educators.

“It is a very important certificate for the teaching community. The payback will be substantial. Teachers will be better prepared for the realities of today’s classrooms. Some teachers will pursue a master’s degree, and perhaps do research focussed on post-secondary education. Offering this certificate is a winning proposition for the Franco-Ontarian community,” contends Marie Josée Berger, dean of the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Education.

This new program is targeted primarily at teaching staff in post-secondary institutions such as community colleges and cégeps. However, the program is also geared to public servants, university educators, professional associations and consultants in continuing or adult education.
