Student to lead youth parliament

A University of Ottawa political science student, James Drummond, heads the planning committee for the 38th Session of the Ontario Youth Parliament (OYP), which will be held in March 2006 at a yet-to-be-determined location in Ontario.

Drummond was put in charge as a result of his election as premier of the OYP, during its 37th session in Kingston, in March.

The premier-elect started his youth parliament career in 2002 as a delegate representing Ottawa. He later held the positions of minister of public relations and government house leader.

OYP is a model parliament based on the Ontario Legislature that is run by youth for youth from ages 15 to 21.
