Basketball stars Jermaine Campbell and Moriah Trowell are the 2005 University of Ottawa Athletes of the Year. They were named at the Sports Services awards banquet on April 9.
Hockey players Amy Bombay and Chris Boucher received the other major awards, the 2005 President’s Awards, for their dedication to sport, school and community.
Campbell and Trowell played crucial roles in their respective teams’ successes when both Gee-Gees basketball squads earned berths in the Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) championships, in March. It was the first time in school history that both teams qualified for the national championships in the same year.
