Tina Desabrais, a master’s student in Lettres françaises, is the first-prize winner of the French essay writing contest sponsored by the Jean-Robert Gauthier fund of the Fondation franco-ontarienne. She received a $3,000 bursary as prize.
The competition was open to all students attending a post-secondary institution in Canada. The essay topic was “Canada, a welcoming country: the Francophone experience in Canada’s cultural mosaic.”
A jury involving Joseph-Yvon Thériault, Roland Madou, Jean-Marc Barrette and Andrée Lacelle selected the four winning entries.
