Four University of Ottawa researchers have received nearly $200,000 in funding from the Canada Foundation for Innovation. The researchers are:
- Daphné Ducharme (School of Rehabilitation Sciences) receives $32,576 to help set up a laboratory to study reading development in French among children who have language and communication disorders. This lab will be the first of its kind in Canada focussing specifically on Francophone children.
- Cynthia Toman (School of Nursing) receives $7,122 for a historical analysis of nursing in Canada since Confederation. The study is expected to improve strategies for recruitment and retention of nurses in Canada by revealing what strategies worked in the past.
- Carlisle Adams (School of Information Technology and Engineering) receives $103,000 to help set up a studio to facilitate the sharing of health and medical data.
- André Rupp (Faculty of Education) receives $47,256 to help set up a research centre for cognitive psychometrics in language testing.
