The University of Ottawa will host the Canada-Wide Science Fair (CWSF) in 2008, marking its return to the nation’s capital for the first time since the inaugural event in 1962.
The annual week-long fair features innovative projects by hundreds of Canada’s best young student scientists, and involves hundreds of volunteers from the community.
From May 10 to18, 2008, students and delegates will be housed at the University, which will also be the main exhibit and judging site. When not presenting their projects to judges or the public, students will be able to participate in numerous social, cultural and recreational outings.
The organizing committee is already hard at work planning the event. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Yvon Legault, at the Faculty of Science: ext. 6056, ylegault@science.uOttawa.ca.
The CWSF is Canada’s largest extracurricular youth activity related to science and technology. About 450 students from Grades 7 to 12 are invited to participate based upon their success at nearly 100 regional science and technology fairs across the country.
The 2005 Ottawa Regional Science Fair will be held on campus on April 9.
