Carleton University and Université du Québec en Outaouais are both welcoming new chief executives in 2005.
David W. Atkinson will become the ninth president and vice-chancellor of Carleton University on August 1, 2005 for a six-year term.
Atkinson is currently the president and vice-chancellor of Brock University in St. Catharines, Ontario. He will replace Richard J. Van Loon, who has served as Carleton’s president since 1996.
Meanwhile, on January 26, Jean Vaillancourt started a five-year term as the new rector of UQO. He replaced Francis Whyte, who led the institution for the past ten years. Vaillancourt, who holds a PhD from Carleton University, was previously dean of research at UQO.
