Assistant professor of chemistry Natalie Kazumi Goto is one of four 2004 recipients of the Polanyi Prize. Faculty at the University of Ottawa have received 14 Polanyi Prizes over the years and Goto is the seventh member of the Department of Chemistry to receive the honour.
She joined the University in 2003, with a research program focused on using nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) to understand the structure of proteins.
The $15,000 prize is given to researchers and academics working in the fields of chemistry, literature, physics, physiology, medicine, or economics.
The Polanyi Prizes were created in 1986 to commemorate University of Toronto professor and 1986 Nobel Prize winner for Chemistry, John Charles Polanyi.
