Physician calls for more accountability

Dr. Frans Leenen, director of the Hypertension Unit at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute, wants to see greater physician accountability in the treatment of high blood pressure.

In an article in the September 28, 2004 issue of the Canadian Medical Association Journal, Leenen suggests that evaluating physicians, and making their success rate in the treatment of hypertension available to the public, may be the necessary route for improving blood pressure control in the general population.
